Auto-populate DNS
Use Domain Connect to apply Reloop DNS records in one click when your DNS host supports Reloop’s template.
Auto-populate uses the open Domain Connect standard. Reloop opens your DNS provider, you approve a template, and the provider writes SPF, DKIM, DMARC, MX, and tracking records for you.
When you see the button
Reloop shows Auto populate when nameserver detection matches a host where Reloop’s Domain Connect template is known to work today:
On the domain page (and during onboarding DNS step):
- Auto populate → use this flow
- Open DNS settings (or no Auto populate) → use manual setup
When you click Auto populate, Reloop also runs live Domain Connect discovery as a safety check (_domainconnect DNS + provider API) to confirm the Reloop template (reloop.sh / email-setup) is still available. A host that supports Domain Connect in general may still fail that check if Reloop’s template is not onboarded there.
Trust the dashboard for your domain: if the button is missing, use manual setup even if the provider advertises Domain Connect elsewhere.
Defaults before you approve
New domains start with Email Receiving and click/open tracking on. Auto-populate therefore typically includes inbound MX (inbound.reloop.sh) and the tracking CNAME unless you turn those off first.
How the flow works
Click Auto populate
Reloop runs Domain Connect discovery and builds a signed apply URL when the Reloop template is available.
Approve at your provider
A new tab opens on your DNS host. Sign in if needed, review the records, and confirm.
Return to Reloop
After success you are redirected back (or you can return manually). Click Verify & finish on the setup page, or Verify Domain on the domain detail page, if status is still pending.
If discovery fails or the provider dropped the template, you get an error toast and should continue manually.
What gets applied
The Reloop Domain Connect template typically applies groups based on your domain toggles:
- DKIM TXT on
reloop._domainkey - SPF via SPFM / merge (
include:reloop.sh) - DMARC on
_dmarc(required for verification when Email Sending is on) - Sending MX →
reloop.shwhen Email Sending is on - Receiving MX →
inbound.reloop.shwhen Email Receiving is on (default for new domains) - Tracking CNAME →
link.reloop.shwhen tracking is on (host is usuallylinkon apex, orlink.<subdomain>when the Reloop domain is a subdomain)
Exact groups depend on your toggles and template version; the consent screen lists what will change. Always confirm hosts and values in the Reloop dashboard.
If Auto-populate fails
See Auto-populate failed for:
- Popup blocked
- User cancelled consent
- Template not found at provider
- Domain Connect not supported on that zone
You can always fall back to manual setup using the same dashboard records.
Security notes
- Only approve the flow while logged into your DNS account for that domain.
- Reloop signs Domain Connect apply URLs; do not reuse apply links from untrusted sources.
- After you approve, check the records in your DNS panel, then click Verify Domain (or Verify & finish) in Reloop.
