## FAQ

### Is Mailtrap only for testing?

No. Mailtrap has three separate products: Email Sandbox for testing, Email API/SMTP for production sending, and Email Marketing for campaigns. Each has its own plans and free tier.

### Can I use Mailtrap's sandbox with Reloop?

Yes. The sandbox captures whatever you send to it over SMTP or API, so staging can send to Mailtrap while production sends through Reloop.

### Which is cheaper?

Under 6,000 emails a month, Reloop's free tier goes further. From 50k up, Reloop is cheaper: $10 vs $20 at 50k, $20 vs $30 at 100k, and $20 vs $85 if you need a dedicated IP.

### Does Mailtrap support self-hosting?

No. Mailtrap is a hosted service. Reloop can run on your own server under the Apache 2.0 license.

### Can AI agents use either one?

Reloop gives agents their own mailboxes they can read and reply from over the API, MCP or IMAP. Mailtrap's inbound forwards messages to your app, so threading and replies are yours to build.
