**The short version:** if you're leaving Mailjet because of price, **Reloop** does the same two jobs (transactional and marketing mail) for $10 at 50,000 emails instead of $40 or $59, with automations on every plan. If you want a marketer-friendly suite with SMS and a CRM, look at **Brevo**. If you need an EU company on EU hosting, look at **Lettermint**.

We build Reloop, so weigh our entry accordingly. Every price below comes from the provider's own pricing page, and each section says where that provider beats us.

## Why teams look for a Mailjet alternative

Mailjet is a mature platform with a good drag-and-drop editor, and its free tier (6,000 emails a month) is bigger than most. People still leave, usually for one of these reasons:

- **The September 2026 price update.** Essential is now $19 for 15k and $40 for 50k; Premium is $29, $59 and $112 at 15k, 50k and 100k ([Mailjet pricing](https://www.mailjet.com/pricing/)).
- **Features are gated by plan.** Segmentation starts on Essential. Automations, team management and the dedicated IP need Premium, even if you only send 15,000 emails a month.
- **Inbound is a webhook, not a mailbox.** The Parse API posts each message to your endpoint. Storing, threading and replying is up to you.
- **Hosted only.** There's no way to run Mailjet yourself.

If none of those bother you, staying on Mailjet is a reasonable choice. If they do, here are the alternatives.

## 1. Reloop: best overall Mailjet alternative

Reloop is open-source email infrastructure: a transactional API, SMTP relay, contacts, campaigns, event-triggered automations, inbound mailboxes and webhooks in one product. Use it hosted, or run the same code on your own server.

**Pricing:** Free is 6,000 emails a month (200 a day). Pro is $10 for 50,000. Growth is $20 for 100,000 and includes a dedicated IP. Extra mail costs $0.50 per 1,000, and pay-as-you-go credits cost the same $0.50 per 1,000 and stay valid for 6 months. Self-hosting is free under Apache 2.0.

**Strengths**

- **$10 vs $40 or $59 at 50k, and $20 vs $112 at 100k.** Every plan gets the same product; plans differ only by volume.
- **Automations on every plan.** Trigger sequences from your app with one call, no Premium upgrade needed. See [welcome sequences that convert](/blog/welcome-email-sequences-that-convert).
- **Inbound as real mailboxes.** Mail is stored, threaded, spam-scored and readable over the API, the [MCP server](/docs/integrations/ai-tools/mcp-server) or IMAP. Hosted plans include 3, 5 or 10 inboxes on Free, Pro and Growth.
- **European hosting.** Reloop Cloud runs on Hetzner, a German hosting company, with EU data centers.
- Open source, so you can [self-host](/self-host) later without changing your code.

**Weaknesses**

- **No drag-and-drop editor.** Templates are code or HTML. If marketers build your emails, Mailjet or Brevo will feel friendlier.
- Younger than Mailjet, with fewer years of community answers.

**Best for:** teams sending more than the free tier who want transactional mail and campaigns in one place at a fraction of the price.

## 2. Brevo: best all-in-one marketing suite

[Brevo](https://www.brevo.com/) (formerly Sendinblue) is a Paris-based marketing suite: email, SMS, WhatsApp, live chat and a CRM, with a drag-and-drop builder.

**Pricing:** free for 300 emails a day. Starter begins at $9 for 5,000 emails, and Standard, which adds automations, starts at $18. Larger volumes are priced on a slider.

**Strengths**

- The broadest channel mix here: email, SMS, WhatsApp and live chat in one account.
- A builder marketers can use without developers.
- Prices by emails sent, not contacts stored.

**Weaknesses**

- Automations start on Standard, not Starter.
- Dedicated IPs only on higher tiers.
- Inbound is parsed to a webhook, not a mailbox.

**Best for:** marketing-led teams that want one tool for every channel. Full comparison: [Reloop vs Brevo](/blog/reloop-vs-brevo).

## 3. MailerSend: best for no-code transactional

[MailerSend](https://www.mailersend.com/) is the transactional sister product of MailerLite, with a strong no-code side.

**Pricing:** Free is 500 emails a month. Hobby is $7 for 5,000. Starter is $35 for 50,000 and $68 for 100,000, with $1.30 per extra 1,000 at those tiers. Annual billing takes 10% off.

**Strengths**

- Drag-and-drop builder, email verification and split testing.
- SMS in the US and Canada.
- A clean API with official SDKs.

**Weaknesses**

- Small free tier.
- Marketing campaigns live in a separate product (MailerLite).
- Inbound mail is forwarded, and each forward counts as a sent email. The dedicated IP add-on is on Professional only.

**Best for:** product teams where non-developers edit transactional templates. Full comparison: [Reloop vs MailerSend](/blog/reloop-vs-mailersend).

---

## 4. Mailgun: best developer veteran

[Mailgun](https://www.mailgun.com/) is one of the original developer email APIs, now part of Sinch, the same group that owns Mailjet.

**Pricing:** a 100-a-day trial instead of a permanent free tier. Basic is $15 for 10,000 and Foundation is $35 for 50,000, with overage from $1.30 per 1,000. Dedicated IPs are a paid add-on.

**Strengths**

- Mature REST and SMTP sending, stored templates and webhooks.
- Inbound routes that match and forward incoming mail.
- Email validation as an add-on.

**Weaknesses**

- No permanent free tier.
- Marketing campaigns are limited, so it doesn't replace Mailjet's marketing side.
- Same parent company as Mailjet, if that's part of why you're leaving.

**Best for:** developer teams that only need sending and routing. Full comparison: [Reloop vs Mailgun](/blog/reloop-vs-mailgun) or our [Mailgun alternatives page](/alternatives/mailgun).

## 5. Elastic Email: best budget marketing tools

[Elastic Email](https://elasticemail.com/) is a long-running budget provider that sells an Email API and a separate Email Marketing app.

**Pricing:** the free API plan is 3,000 emails a month (100 a day). Starter is $19 and Pro is $49, both for 50,000 emails. Above that a volume slider sets the price. A dedicated IP is a $40 add-on on Starter and $50 on Pro.

**Strengths**

- A mature drag-and-drop newsletter designer and template gallery.
- Sub-accounts on Pro for agencies.
- The slider runs up to 10 million emails a month.

**Weaknesses**

- Webhooks and inbound processing need the $49 Pro plan.
- Logs are kept for 3 days on Free and Starter, 7 on Pro.
- Marketing and API are separate plans.

**Best for:** budget senders whose marketers want a visual designer. Full comparison: [Reloop vs Elastic Email](/blog/reloop-vs-elastic-email).

## 6. Lettermint: best EU-owned option

[Lettermint](https://lettermint.co/) is a Dutch company (Lettermint B.V.) that keeps email data in the EU and is ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified.

**Pricing:** free for 300 emails a month. €40 on Starter at 50,000 (Growth €45, Pro €55), and €85 for 125,000 on Starter. A dedicated IP is a €50 a month add-on on Pro at 300k and up.

**Strengths**

- EU company, EU hosting and a published sub-processor list.
- Transactional email, broadcasts and inbound in one API.
- ISO 27001 certification for security reviews.

**Weaknesses**

- Hosted only, and pricier than Reloop per email.
- No contacts or automations in its docs.
- Small free tier.

**Best for:** EU teams whose policy requires an EU-registered provider. Full comparison: [Reloop vs Lettermint](/blog/reloop-vs-lettermint).

---

## 7. Resend: best hosted developer experience

[Resend](https://resend.com/) is the modern developer favourite, known for its API and the React Email project.

**Pricing:** Free is 3,000 a month (100 a day). Pro is $20 for 50,000. 100,000 costs $35. Overage is $0.90 per 1,000.

**Strengths**

- Excellent docs and onboarding.
- React Email is first-class.
- Broadcasts and audiences for simple marketing sends.

**Weaknesses**

- No visual editor for marketers, so it replaces Mailjet's transactional side better than its marketing side.
- $35 at 100k vs $20 on Reloop.
- A dedicated IP needs the $90 Scale plan plus a $30/mo add-on.

**Best for:** developer teams under 50k emails a month. Full comparison: [Reloop vs Resend](/blog/reloop-vs-resend) or our [Resend alternatives page](/alternatives/resend).

## How to choose

- **"Price went up and we send 50k+ a month."** Reloop: $10 at 50k, $20 at 100k.
- **"Our marketers build every email in the visual editor."** Brevo, or stay on Mailjet.
- **"We need automations but don't want to pay for Premium."** Reloop includes them on every plan.
- **"Our policy requires an EU-registered provider."** Lettermint. Reloop Cloud runs on Hetzner with EU data centers, and you can self-host it on EU hardware.
- **"We want to reply to inbound mail, or let an AI agent do it."** Reloop's mailboxes. See [email infrastructure for AI agents](/blog/email-infrastructure-for-ai-agents).
- **"We send under 6,000 a month and plan to stay there."** Mailjet and Reloop both give 6,000 a month free; pick on features.

## Switching from Mailjet

1. **Export contacts, unsubscribes and bounces** from Mailjet so you don't email people who opted out.
2. **Verify your domain** with the new provider. Merge its SPF include into your existing record (never publish two SPF records) and add its DKIM record. Our [SPF, DKIM and DMARC guide](/blog/spf-dkim-dmarc-setup-guide) covers it.
3. **Rebuild templates.** Mailjet's `{{var:name}}` placeholders become the new provider's syntax. On Reloop that's `{{{name}}}`.
4. **Swap the client** in your code, or just change the SMTP host if you send over SMTP.
5. **Move webhooks** to the new event names.
6. **Ramp traffic** over one to two weeks while you watch bounce and complaint rates.
